Youth Shooting Sports
Around the country, some young people are pushing for stricter gun-control laws, while the other side of the youth are having fun taking advantage of their Second Amendment! How and why should your kids join in on the fun?
Educating our youth on firearm handling and safety is so, so important to us and vital to our future! And we want you to join us in growing youth education and involvement in the shooting industry whether it’s just for fun or on a shooting sports team! Come practice at our facilities where all youth have a special TPSA discount!
“It’s a very fun sport where you meet all kinds of different people. It’s different from other sports because it’s not only a team sport but also an individual sport and it doesn’t matter how athletic you are or what you do, anyone can shoot.”
How did you join? My dad was a shooter and we had a trap machine at home and I fell in love with shooting.

“I love the variety of shooting sports and the challenge of shooting a tournament one day, then shooting one the next and it will be completely different. Shooting sports are extremely fun and there is many opportunities for youth shooters to get involved regardless of age, gender, experience. Anyone can do it!”
How did you join? I got interested in shooting sports after a hunting trip, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

What is Youth Shooting Sports?
Youth shooting sports is becoming a very popular activity that teaches the youth the safety and use of firearms while training them to become a very skilled shooter. “It’s not just about winning, it’s about having fun and shooting,” says Jacob, a teammate on youth shooting team Katy Dusters.
Shooting sports is unlike other team sports where there are set positions that are focused on, instead, each individual has an equal amount of importance on the team. “It’s a different perspective on the responsibility of competing as a team,” explains David Miller, pro-shooter and production manager of CZ USA, “Everyone participates and everyone has the same opportunity.” The best way to get involved in youth shooting sports is to reach out to a local team, getting professional instruction and participating in shooting events.
Summer 2024
Youth Shooting Camp
In 2024, our team had the honor of teaching 60 amazing kids the importance of firearm safety and handling of both shotguns, rifles, and archery bows. Throughout the week they also learned the fundamentals of sporting clays, how to lead/follow a target, the different parts of a shotgun, and a breakdown of ammunition and how they work.
We would like to thank all of our sponsors and special guests who truly helped make this camp one for the books – Larry Feland (Feland Gunsmithing), Audrey Frankum (FCA Wharton Archery Club), Brian Gardner (Austin County Youth Bullseye Club), Austin County Game Warden Michael Novak, Sealy Fire Department and Sealy Police Department. Youth involvement and education in the shooting industry is so, so important to us and we’re so honored to be a part of this growing industry!
